VerifiedBAMS (Gold Medalist) — Classical Ayurveda
Vaidya Harish Joshi learned Ayurveda at his grandfather's clinic in Pune before formal training at Gujarat Ayurved University. With thirty-two years of practice, he specialises in sleep disorders, chronic stress and rasayana (rejuvenation) therapy for graceful ageing. His answers are grounded in the classical texts — Charaka Samhita and Ashtanga Hridayam — while remaining deeply practical for modern daily life.
Why warm milk with nutmeg helps you sleep
Warm milk is gently grounding for vata, and a pinch of nutmeg (jaiphal) is one of the few spices Ayurveda classifies as nidra-janana — sleep-inducing. Take it 30–45 minutes before bed, warm but not hot, with a little ghee if your digestion is strong. Avoid it if you are congested or dairy-sensitive; warm spiced almond milk works just as well.
